Messaging Policy
Customers would rather chat than click, as long as the chat respects them. These rules apply to every message sent through the platform.
Consent comes first
- Collect a clear opt-in before sending marketing or utility messages, for example a checkbox at checkout, a reply in chat or a QR code with a clear notice.
- Tell people what kind of messages they will receive and from which business.
- Keep the opt-in source and time. The platform records this for you when opt-ins are collected through it.
Easy to stop
- Every marketing message includes a simple way to stop, such as a stop button or replying STOP.
- Opt-outs are honoured immediately across every campaign and automation.
- Do not re-add an opted-out contact without fresh, recorded consent.
Not allowed
- Bought, rented, shared or scraped contact lists.
- Misleading offers, fake urgency, false prices or hidden conditions.
- Products and services prohibited by WhatsApp's Commerce Policy or by law, including weapons, drugs, adult content and gambling.
- Messages that harass, threaten, discriminate or impersonate another person or business.
- Phishing, malware or links designed to collect passwords or payment details.
Respectful frequency
Send messages people want. Use quiet hours and frequency caps, and watch opt-out and block rates in Campaign Stats. A rising opt-out rate is a sign to slow down or change the message.
Honest automation
- Chatbots introduce themselves as automated and do not pretend to be a person.
- Chatbots answer from content the business has approved and hand over to a person when unsure or when asked.
- Chatbots must not be set up to give medical diagnoses, legal advice or financial recommendations.
Sensitive information
Do not ask customers to share card numbers, UPI PINs, passwords or one-time codes in chat. Payments should always go through a payment page or UPI request from your gateway.
Enforcement
We monitor number quality and opt-out patterns. If a campaign breaks this policy, we may pause it, limit sending or suspend the account to protect customers and the number.
